Gudrun Gut,
(D)
led the all women Berlin rock group Malaria.
An original member of Einstürzende Neubauten and as a solo punk decadent
sound artist,
Gudrun was at the centre of the Berlin grouping critics called Die Geniale Diletanten
(The Genius Dilettantes).
From the mid-80s to the early 90s, Gudrun was part of the Berlin women band Matador
and headed the performance project Madame Bovary. In recent years, she has composed
several scores for film and radio drama. In 1991, Gudrun began working with Canadian,
Myra Davies on an interdisciplinary project that became Miasma. Gudrun's newest
project is The Ocean Club. The first CD, recently released (Intercord/Alternation
Rec), called Members of the Ocean Club, features her music with various vocalists,
including Anita Lane, Inga Humpe, Myra Davies, and Blixa Bargeld.... ..... the
ocean club was created by berlin composer gudrun gut as a project for her collaboration
with various artists. it quickly developed into more than simply a means of packaging
gudrun's work. gut's collaborative approach empowers the participants by offering
them a stimulating creative environment. electronic music between the poles of
pop with a spell and romantic avantgarde - an eclectic assimilation of contemporary
music... ...i really dig the miasma 2 cd,easily one of the best marriages
of spoken word/poetry and music i've ever heard. i especially like the sparse
economy of the music, which lets the voice breathe and lets one's concentration
vacillate in attention between the music and words. but my fave is "castle"...i
really dig the time signatures against each other - great sounds,too....'
